Mass Effect 3 - I Was Lost Without You (Extended)
I saw no one else posting the extended version so I thought I’d share it

6. Favorite song (soundtrack or performed onscreen)
Pippin’s song/The Steward of Gondor
This scene is beautiful and tragic. The despair in Pippin’s face, the stoic behavior of Denethor (the eating is a bit overdone though … especially when you’ve read the books) and Faramir riding into certain death. It’s one of the most powerful moments in the triology. The song is based on a poem by Tolkien “Upon the hearth the fire is warm) and it’s taken from the fellowship of the ring. (It’s actually more cheerful than we see in the movie … and longer)
Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
The whole track is called “The Steward of Gondor” and it also features the lines:
Boe le henio
E si car athad iyn
Ane ah a phen
I u athelitha.
Which is taken from the book, because it translates to (referring to Faramir):
You must understand.
He does the duty of two sons now.
For himself; and for the one
who will not return
I loved the third soundtrack in general. The theme for Minas Tirith (the fallen Osgiliath), the music for the Grey Havens and the coronation and into the west makes me teary eyed every time.
